Testimonials...

The atmosphere was great, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and can't wait to visit the next show.

Gill Farrington, Todwick

Anthony was a great compere, he kept the atmosphere going between each act brilliantly. We had a great time and can't wait for the Christmas special at the Winding Wheel.

Clad in a sartorially edifying bespoke manner, like a dapper and dandy funeral director, Anthony cuts a unique on-stage presence with humour blacker than a raven that has slammed it's claw in a coffin lid.

Edinburgh Festival Preview II
CHRIS McCAUSLAND   DEBRA JANE APPELBY

“He has a wit so dry he’d make Death Valley look positively verdant. He has an engaging personality that never threatens us and makes the humour a delight to listen to and finally he has the greatest gift any comedian can have: timing. He delivers his punchlines with all the precision of a Stealth Bomber”- The Edinburgh Guide

Jongleurs New Act award winner as seen on Paramount Comedy’s ‘The Comedy Store’ and Cbeebies ‘Me Too!’ Previewing his Edinburgh Festival Show ‘Emotional Retard’.

“The best female stand-up I’ve ever seen” – Worksop
Guardian

Winner of both The Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year and Funny Women Comedy Award.

Debra Jane Appelby..

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START DOING COMEDY?
I fancied something showbizzy and went to a college in London and did a night school course. I've always been a massive fan of stand-up and that was sort of the launch pad.

HAS ANYTHING EVER MADE YOU WANT TO STOP DOING COMEDY?
Had a few ups and downs but once it's in the blood, the idea of not having some performance outlet is horrifying.

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR HAPPIEST MOMENT WALKING OFF A COMEDY STAGE?
Every time it's gone well.

WHAT IF THE CHICKEN HADN'T CROSSED THE ROAD?
He'd have met a dog with no nose!

DESCRIBE YOUR ACT IN 5 WORDS. AND ONE COLOUR?
about twenty minutes long usually. Blue.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU SPENT WRITING YOUR EDI SHOW. WHEN DO YOU KNOW THAT IT IS FINISHED?
Not going back to Edinburgh until i have a TV series that'll sell tickets for me. Last one i did took about 3 months to write and by the end of the festival most had been replaced by ad libs and expansions that occurred during the run. so i guess it's never finished..

IF YOU COULD ONLY HEAR ONE MORE SONG WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb

WHAT'S YOUR POISON?
Strychnine

WHY DO PEOPLE THINK THAT COMEDIANS ARE BRAVE, AND ARE THEY RIGHT?
Because we do something that scares them. Bravery is facing something that scares you witless but doing it anyway so i suppose, yes. we are defying 10 milion years of evolution by standing out from the crowd and they love us for it.

ARE YOU YOUR OWN HARSHEST CRITIC. IF NOT, WHO IS?
No, it's me alright.

ANY PRE-GIG RITUALS?
Can't eat for 6 hours before call time. I listen to 'i'm sorry i haven't a clue' in the car on the way.
